The Angri Car

MACHINE MANIA


At the left is a picture of a monster truck. I was going to make it like a monster truck but my car now looks like an angry Ferrari and a Lotus mixed together. This picture was found at : (Just click here, it's a really long URL.) Ok. Let's get to work Here are some experiments to try!

Experiment 1

The Hot experiment

Materials
1 AA battery
scissors
ruler
aluminum foil

Procedure
  1. Cut a strip from the aluminum foil 15cm x 2.5cm(6in. x 1in.)
  2. fold the strip of foil in half lenghtwise twice to form a thin 15cm(6in.) strip that will be used as a wire.
  3. using one hand, hold one end of the aluminum wire to the end of the aluminum wire against each battery pole(+and-)
  4. after 10 seconds, touch the aluminum wire while you continue to hold the battery poles.
WARNING: the battery would get REALLY HOT after about 11 seconds, and if you continue to hold it together, you would continue the circuit of the wire, and in short, you would burn YOUR HAND and DISCHARGE THE BATTERY.

Experiment 2

The mysterious ghost of the shower

Materials
Toilet with shower and mirror in it
You
dirty body
your finger
soap

Procedure

  1. Get your body dirty so you can shower.
  2. Write an "invisible" message on the mirror with your finger
  3. Shower for 10-15 minutes
  4. Make sure to use soap
  5. Get out of the shower
  6. look at the mirror
What do you see?

you should be able to see your "invisible" message!

Pitagola Switch is a program on TV that I like in Japan. It's a Rube Goldberg show. (Rube Goldberg) are contraptions that do a simple thing, like pour coffee into a cup, or show a sign, but is done in many steps.) Here's two of the videos from you tube. It's from you tube.

First, there's Me, Keiichiro. I'm Ten, and most people think I'm a fourth grader or something because I"m so short, but I'm going to sixth grade THIS August. Satoshi, he's a Japanese boy who is about to become a fifth grader. Ben, he's going to be in sixth grade, and he's Chinese. For Albert, he's a Chinese born American and is going to fifth grade. For Julius, he's also a Chinese born American, too. and for the other people? they didn't want their info to go on the net.

Hi this is Bertram and this is my Post. My Machine is called " Kalashshikoff " which is AK47's "K". My machine looks like a tank it has a flame thrower ( bundle of wires ) and a cannon ( -knife switch ). My machine could churn your finger off when it is in the air and it is useless if on the ground so my time was N/A. Well I have eight pictures and ten videos......SO ENJOY!

I am going to tell you about some simple machines
pulley:a rope attached to a wheel that makes heavier things easier to lift
wheel and axle:a stick going through the middle of an axle
lever:a rock or something big and heavy is below a wooden stick to lift a heavy thing
gears:a wheel with tiny points on the side to make other gears move
Inclined plane: an uphill slant

The Ben Show-Machines


Hello and welcome to the Ben Show. I know there is really no such thing as the Ben Show but I couldn't think of anything else. You might also want to know that the picture to your left is from dvice.com.This season's topic is machines, and boy, are there a lot of machines in this world. I bet if you walk along any modern street on a regular day in a regular place, you will see at least one machine. There are two types of machines, simple machines and compound machine. Also, you are probably wondering why I have the picture of the vehicle. That is because we did not only learn about machines, we made our own cars and raced them in one of three categories, uphill, SUV, and speed. The results were as shown:

The History of machines
Even before the 1800's, there were billions of ideas for machines, some were even made,but machines didn't really catch on until the 1800's. Some of the machines made that year were generators and motors and other stuff. But, products that use electricity didn't start until the 1900's.

Simple Machines
There are lots of machines, but the most important ones are simple machines, every machine is made of them. Some have one or more and are called compound machines. The main simple machines are levers, wheel and axle, pulleys, inclined plane, wedge and screw.

1.
What you need:
a bicycle pump,
a bit of alcohol,
a bottle.
What to do:
step one,
put the alcohol in the bottle,
Step two,
hook the pump up to the mouth of the bottle,
step three,
pump 10 times.
watch and look what happens.

Experiment 1

What you'll need:battery, 2 wires, light bulb holder with light bulb.

Stick the light bulb to the light bulb holder. Stick the two wires to both sides of the light bulb holder. Stick again the two other end of the wires to the positive and negative side of the battery. As you watch, you will see the light bulb go on. If you let go of the wires on the battery, the light bulb will go off. So you have made a battery switch.

Experiment 2

The hot experiment

What you'll need: a battery and foil.

First you need to cut a strip of foil (6-by-1 cm would be best) then put one end of the strip of foil to the battery and put the other end to the opposite side of the battery. When you hold the battery with the strip on for 20 seconds, the battery becomes very hot.

Experiment 3

The static tester

What you'll need: Silk, clay, paper, straw , pencil and a ruler. Fold the paper in half and while you're at it stick the clay to the rubber end of the pencil. Next, put the clay with the pencil on top of the desk so the pencil will stand. Next, fold the paper in half and balance the middle on the point of the pencil. Then, you rub the straw, pencil and what ever you find in your room with the silk, then put the thing you have close to the piece of paper balanced. then see what happens.



Results: If you used plastic, the paper will move closer to the plastic. If you used metal nothing will happen.
