Marianne's RC 932 Blog

Hey! Do you know anything about machines? And do you like this cool Enzo Ferrari picture?

Sorry. Didn't mean to be so wild. But I've been working on a "race" car. It's good, new, fresh, and also fast. (I think.) You want a description? Scroll down and find it.

Well, I'm the only girl in this machine mania class and all the rest of the boys in this class, except my brother Lucus, always talk about torture machines for at least an hour everyday.(not counting Saturday & Sunday.) They always talk about how to brainstorm about making torture machines. Some days, when we get to fix Lego Things together, they(the boys) finish making the thing they were working on and they just start talking about torture machines. They also put this Lego person on the torture machine and just basically torture it.

Click here and it will bring you to a website that tells you and defines the meaning of machines.

Click this link to go to the website that we learn some stuff on: www.brainpop.com

My race car has some cool reinforcements on it, like some pieces of cardboard blocking the view of the crocodile/alligator clips that connects the motor with the 2 batteries provided. I also used some gears and I also used the all 4 wheels provided. I'm still working on it and the wheels and axels can't stick properly and always fall out. It's just a bit too troublesome with that problem. I have wasted a lot of time sticking the wheels onto it. I also got some extra help from the TA in the class. He helped me cut the pieces of cardboard to the size I wanted it to be. He also told me that he had photographic memory. Kinda weird, right? (I can upload a picture of my car, if you comment about it. Actually, it doesn't look very nice.)

Well, a few days later I'm going to race my car for the flat course. I was afraid that it won't go well on both SUV and Uphill course because it causes friction when I try to make it go. It didn't work so well. Well, good luck to me when I race my car. Hope that I get to win the race that I have chosen for my car to go on.

I'm going to add more pictures on this blog:

And some Animated Gifs, too:

Well, do you like these Animated Gifs that I put in this blog? Aren't they just cute???

There's a web link under each animated gif I got from the website. It is at the same website, at getgraphics.com. You can go and download some Animated Gifs too, to put in your own blog. If you think that its inappropiate (like my teacher Ms Nelson said), go to Google, click Web search, and key in Animated Gifs.

Well, talking about blogs-you should read some other Blogs of Machine Mania like Donald Car and Lucus's. Those are really great.

I'm going to key in my result of the race and some others, too:
Marianne, Flat Race, Time: 5.5 seconds
Lucus , Flat Race, Time: 3.86 seconds
Marcus , Flat Race, Time: 8.60 seconds

Gregory

If you want to find out about cool machines go to this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine
this will tell you a lot of cool facts about machines. during the classes you get to make your blog and make cool cars and sometimes you go swimming. The usual schedule is first make your machine then go to break/ swimming and after that it's usually more machine making then the blog making, and then the best part is going back home! during the machine making there are some times when you get to use Lego to either make a torturing device or just make a boring machine, oh and a helpful comment is that when you do the first Lego project do the big fan thing (windmill) it makes a awesome torturing device. For the machine making you are making cars so if your a car expert this is going to be quite a breeze. Also the blog thing may SEEM bad but it really is kinda easy... unless you're a 8th grader, then you're going to need a coffin that's probably about your size because you will probably going to write your darn HANDS off. And finally I would like to tell you my race results: at my first flat race my car was able to reach the finish line in 0:04"86 seconds but my second race on the same race track was better it was 0:04"78 seconds instead of 0:04"86, and even after all that I came in 4th place also in case you were wondering who came in first place it was Donald who reached the finish line in an amazing 0:02"68 seconds.

go in and see

Hi, I am Donald and I am 10 years old. I like cars a lot. My favorite car is Toyota AE86. Mrs. Nelson teach me how to make a car with four wheels , two motors and a board. It was not very easy to make a car with four wheels and two motors on a board. It was fun being in Mrs. Nelson's class.

Kevin's machine mania

Hi! I am Kevin and welcome to my website. I am a student of Machine Mania , summer school of Hong Kong International School (HKIS). We are making our own cars in our class that will look really cool like the car shown left when we finish our work!

Click
Here to know more about machines.

At the end of this week, my classmates and I are going to have a race. There will be a flat race, uphill race and so on. Please cheer me that I can be the number one of the car racing. When the race is finished, I will tell you the result. The way my car will move is that I connect two batteries with two motors connected with wheels, using four alligator clips. Then, the car will move.

Unfortunately, my batteries are almost used up. So, I'm quite worried about the race this week. But, I believe that I can get a good result. My car looks quite simple and funny. It says " Torture machine in car", three spikes, a machine gun and a soldier holding the machine gun each at the front and at the back. There's "Baby in car" sign at the back. If you see it, you will laugh quite hard.

Race result:

1st:Donald

2nd: Donald

3rd: Lucus

Marcus's Machine

Hi! My name's Marcus! And welcome to my web page! I study in Machine Mania, where we build our own cars!
We Build Machines all shapes and sizes. You think it, we've( almost) Done it!

We don't just make cars, we learn all kinds of things! We have experiments, challenges, and we get to watch videos. Some of the experiments we test are so interesting. (but that's all I'm gonna tell you!)

Anyway, enough about myself. The machine I'm making is pretty simple and works pretty well, apart from a few faults now and then, I think my car is pretty good.

Car machine 2000 Hiroshi

<span class=<span class=

Hi my name Hiroshi. I'm in machine mania HKIS. I'm in machine mania because I like machines.

<span class=<span class=

Its a story about Brown. Emelet's assistant rides on the car and travels through time. This type can be an example of future cars too because it could fly too. So it could be a great example of car time machine and future cars.

The way how to drive this car through time is first press the time button. then go so fast then it time slips. For instance if I want to go in 1964 September 25 11:00 am I type the button then hit the pedal, then I 'm there. The fuel the professor puts in the white thing on the back is food garbage and left over drinks. So he is using biomass energy.

Alvin's Sports Car 2007

myspace

Hi! My name is Alvin. I have been participating in the HKIS summer course this holiday. This course-Machine Mania-involved inventing cool racing cars, doing interesting experiments about static electricity, different gears and other stuff about machines. Although my finished car won't be as pretty as the neat sports car above, it will still race my classmates' other cars on the last day of our course.
Here is a quick introduction of my car: It is made of a main foam core board, and is powered by two mini motors with two 9v batteries. It also uses different kinds of gears to power the wheels, which are connected with two metal axles. When you flick the knife-switch, the car will zoom off. There are 3 types of tracks to choose for the car on the race day: flat track, uphill or SUV. I am planning to race on the flat track, because my car's designed to race on flat surfaces. Going uphill is its disadvantage, and I think that SUV is too hard for it. So, flat track is my car's right track.
This is the result of the race.
My best time: 10.81
My friend's best time(flat track): 17.04

Sheldon's car

During the next three weeks, I will be in a summer program that will involve making a car. It won't be like the one above (Ha ha!), but it will have a motor, wires, and all that other stuff. I'm planning it to be a 3-wheel drive and, the body will be made from this stuff called "foam core board". I will have 6 alligator clips, 4 washers, 4 gears, 2 9v batteries, 2 motors, 2 sheets of "foam core board", 2 types of wheels (4 of each), 2 CD "wheels", 2 axles, 2 axle bushings, 2 motor bushings, and 1 knife switch.
There are 3 types of tracks: flat, uphill, and an "SUV" track. I'm planning to do uphill. That's because I have a direct drive for my front wheel. I think that it will be able to go up easily. I'm also taking into account that I will get a new battery on race day.
On the day before race day, we will have test runs and fix the problems that we might just find.

Curtice's cool machine

My Machine Mania Page!:)
By Curtice

Hey there! Welcome to my Machine Mania page. This is the
Main Page, the page where you get revved up for the race of my web page. My Machine is going to be a flat machine (of course!!!). It is going to be composed of a few things. NOT! But forget about that.

A few things that interested me was during construction, everyone went at a different pace, some were faster and some were slower at making the vehicle. I was one of the slower ones because we "thought things through" a bit. My teacher, Mrs.Nelson said to me at the beginning of the session that the people who think things through are the one's who will mostly have better cars in the big race.

How my car looks:
My car has two small "rails" as I call them on each long side that face the front. My batteries are also on the front. There are a lot of wires from the batteries to the motors in the back, so there isn't any weight in one spot. At the back of the car, I have a small "top" to make it look cool. That's how my car looks.

Information on Machines
You know, there are many places that machines could be: A TV at home for example, or a computer that you work on. A machine is, in short terms, is a device that works with or is a device that does a force. There are simple machines and complicated machines. Some simple machines are like a small motor attached to a wheel. When the motor is powered up, the motor turns and so does the wheel. Complicated machines are like a Rube Goldberg device, that shows many simple machines being put together to do one simple thing, like turn the page of a book.

Here is a cool machine link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rube_Goldberg_machine

Race results:
These are the race results:
Me: 2.69 flat course
Kenny: 3.10 uphill course

I learned a few things form this race, like you can't build too much on one piece. All in all, this has been a fun course.
